Astrology studies the correlation between the heavenly bodies and Earth events. It focuses on relationships, patterns, and cycles and opens doors to understanding our psychological nature. Astrology moves us past the surface-level focus on what we’re doing to why we’re doing it and into the more profound need or desire beneath. This understanding leads to increased acceptance, compassion, a sense of meaning and purpose, and inspiration to evolve.

Houses

  An astrology wheel is evenly divided into 12 sections, and each section is 30 degrees. These are known as houses. Each house represents a part of your life. For example, the 1st house is the house about you, your physical appearance, and your first impressions. The 4th house is about home and family, father, lineage, and the past. The 7th house is opposite the 1st house of "you" as it's about "other" in the form of relationships, marriage, and partnerships. The 10th house of "career" is opposite the 4th house of "family" and is about career, fame, reputation, and profession and is very public.

Star Signs

Everyone knows their star sign, also known as their sun sign. Each sun sign is a mix of an element (fire, earth, air, and water) and a modality (cardinal, fixed, and mutable), giving it a unique energy.

Planets

When I look at the sun sign's rulership, I use the seven traditional planets. These planets rule these signs, the Sun (Leo), the Moon (Cancer), Mercury (Gemini and Virgo), Venus (Taurus and Libra), Mars (Aries and Scorpio), Jupiter (Sagittarius and Pisces), Saturn (Capricorn and Aquarius). Although there are predominantly two sun signs for each planet, the energy differs depending on the mix of the element and modality.
